The Golden State Warriors were sent home in the Western Conference Semifinals by the Los Angeles Lakers. Jordan Poole’s abysmal performance in the series was a crucial reason behind the Dubs’ elimination.
In the 2023 playoffs, Poole averaged just 10.3 PPG, 2.2 RPG, and 3.5 APG while shooting 34.1% from the field and 25.4% from the three-point line. Jordan Poole opened up on his massive struggles in the playoffs during his exit interview.
“Probably just a little bit of a role change,” Poole said. “Last year, I could come in, score, be aggressive with the team that we had around being more of a facilitator. Trying to get guys off the ball. Get them easy shots. Throughout the course of the playoffs, we had two really good defensive teams that we played. Just trying to find ways to facilitate, get inside.”
Poole further explained that every postseason run in his career will be different, and it’s not always about scoring.
“It’s not always about scoring,” he added. “It’s about finding ways to try to help our team be successful. I think every playoffs will be different. Everything won’t be the same. And like I said, you learn from that, grow from that, and apply it to your skill set.”

Jordan Poole’s biggest skill is his scoring ability, but he failed to score consistently this postseason.
As a result, Poole was essentially useless for the Warriors. Keeping that in mind, many fans in the Dub Nation even want the team to trade him this offseason.
Stephen Curry Opens Up On Jordan Poole’s Future With The Warriors
Jordan Poole has managed to get better in every season that he has played for the Warriors. It’s one of the reasons why the organization handed him a huge contract extension prior to the 2022-23 NBA season.
Evidently, the franchise hopes that Poole will become the face of the team once Stephen Curry retires from the NBA. Curry gave a brutally honest assessment of Poole’s future with the team amidst trade rumors surrounding the 23-year-old.
“Everybody’s going to get better. Everybody’s going to take the next step. Everybody’s going to learn the lessons that you learned this year and try to put them into use next year,” said Curry. “I don’t know what the opportunity is going to be. I don’t know what the roster will look like. I don’t know what, sitting here right now, what Opening Night is going to look like in terms of who’s going to be asked to do what, but I have a lot of confidence in everybody being able to take advantage of the summer.”
Poole’s name was mentioned in a potential blockbuster trade between the Warriors and the Celtics.
A move away from the Warriors is a possibility for Poole, but at the same time, so is improving his craft in the offseason and give a befitting response to his haters.
