Spencer Dinwiddie only spent half a season with the Washington Wizards but hated his time there so much that he kept taking shots at his former teammates after leaving.

Kuzma didn’t respond at first but eventually snapped, going on an astonishing rant on Twitter. He recently also spoke about the false narratives surrounding him and said folks would rock with him if they knew his story. His mother, Karri Kuzma, has now come out and defended her son amid these recent issues.

“If you are a good human being, which most people are, there are some people out there who are just not going to be a good person regardless,” Karri Kuzma said. “But, if you’re honestly a respectful person and are a nice person, if you knew his background, if you knew where he came from, what he went through, how hard he worked, just overall how good of a person he is, you’d rock with him. You would be down with him.

“The more that you learn about things, you can make a more informed decision,” Kuzma said when asked if people will learn over time what her son is truly like. “Whether that’s true, that’s false, you like it, you don’t like it, but I feel like the more someone knows about his story, you peel back the layers. They’re going to be like, ‘Oh man, that kid’ alright, that kid’s a hard worker.’ He has been a good kid, he never got in any trouble when he was little.”

It is clear Karri is very proud of her son and she should be. Sure, Kyle has an interesting fashion sense, to say the least, but he hasn’t done anything particularly terrible since coming into the league. He seems like a decent enough person and any attack on his character would be unwarranted.

Kyle Kuzma Is Set For A Big Payday

Kuzma is coming off a career year, having averaged 21.2 PPG, 7.2 RPG, and 3.7 APG for the Wizards in 2022-23. The timing couldn’t be better, as he is set to enter free agency once he rejects his player option for next season. Not much has been reported on what kind of deal he might get in free agency, but you’d guess it would be upward of $20 million per year.

He said his decision isn’t going to be about the money for the simple reason that he is going to get paid a lot regardless of where he goes. Kuzma claimed he appreciates the location when it comes to the Wizards and seems open to staying. He’ll have a few options to choose from, though and it’ll be interesting to see what his priorities are, as we’ll get a clear idea about that based on where he ends up.
