  • Warriors star doesn’t believe there’s only one GOAT
  • Kendrick Perkins disagrees with Curry, says LeBron wears the crown
  • ESPN analysts agree that it’s not wrong to compare players from different eras

The GOAT conversation is a debate that will never end for the NBA community. Whether it’s Michael Jordan, LeBron James, or even a guy like Bill Russell, people are going to have countless different opinions on who they think is the best of the best.

Of course, if you ask Stephen Curry, there is no singular answer. Rather, there are multiple “GOATs” in the NBA and at least one for each era. While it’s an interesting perspective from Curry, not everyone is buying into this narrative.

“No,” replied Perk when asked if there can be multiple GOATs. “You only can have one GOAT. The Greatest Of All Time. It’s hard for me to disagree with Steph because there are so many greats who have played the game of basketball but there’s only one GOAT and you know who my GOAT is: LeBron James.”

Despite the changes we’ve seen over NBA history, we can still compare and contrast the careers of players in different eras. In the case of LeBron, his resume and accomplishments are so good that it’s almost impossible to deny his greatness.

The same could be said for MJ, Magic, and others, but there can only really be one and until some dominant player comes in and convinces everyone to agree, the conversation will never stop.

Should Steph Be Mentioned In The GOAT Debate?

Going purely on success and league-wide impact, Curry himself has a case to be included in the GOAT debate. As a 4x champion, 2x MVP, and the greatest shooter ever, he transformed the game and established the modern era of basketball as we know it today.

“He’s got sh*t on his resume that he can add to that GOAT conversation,” said Paul George. “He’ll go down as the best shooter in league history. Nobody is catching his three-pointers made. You’re a GOAT to me if the league changed because of you…”

Curry may not agree with putting a GOAT status on himself, but it really just speaks to the success of his career and the impressive feats he’s been able to complete thus far.
