Kevin Durant is undoubtedly one of the best players to play in the NBA. He is currently 34 years old, but Durant is still having a phenomenal season. In fact, KD’s form is one of the most crucial reasons why the Brooklyn Nets have managed to stay as a top team in the league this season.

Durant is unarguably making a case for himself to win the MVP award this season, although the Nets superstar doesn’t care about it. But today, our focus is not on Kevin Durant’s time with the Brooklyn Nets. Instead, let’s take a trip down memory lane and talk about when KD joined the Golden State Warriors in 2016.

The 34-year-old joined the Warriors in 2016. He was so willing to join the Dubs that he didn’t even listen to the full presentation by the Warriors and made his decision 10 minutes into it. But before joining the Warriors, KD was expected to join the Washington Wizards.

Kevin Durant Once Revealed Why He Didn’t Join The Washington Wizards

Considering the fact that Kevin Durant is originally from Washington, D.C., many expected KD to return home and play for the Wizards. Moreover, at the time, the Wizards also had the dynamic duo of John Wall and Bradley Beal on the roster. However, Durant had no interest in joining the team. He even explained the reason behind his decision.

Via Washington Post:

“I don’t want to open up anything in the past, but I really just didn’t want to play at home. It was nothing about the fans. Being at home, I was so happy with that part of my life — playing at home, being in front of friends, hanging with friends and family every day. That was a part of my life that has come and gone.”

It was nothing personal against the fanbase of the Washington Wizards. KD simply didn’t want to return to that phase of his life again and had already put that aspect of his life behind him.
