Kevin Durant has become famous for his controversial encounters on social media, where he fires at anybody who dares to criticize him. The 2x NBA champion has been known for this, besides the fact that he’s one of the most talented to ever play the game, which makes it hard for people to understand when he’s joking and when he’s not.
That’s what happened recently with former coach Stan Van Gundy. SVG has been very active on social media, too, talking about NBA-related topics. Recently, he was talking about why players get more injured nowadays than during the 90s, given all the technology they had in hand.
This has been a common concern around the association, and the greatest coach in Orlando Magic history had something to say about it. The thing is that he didn’t expect Kevin Durant to reply to him, even less in the way KD did it.
Stan Van Gundy Starred In Hilarious Moment With Kevin Durant On Twitter
Van Gundy took to Twitter to ask a very important question, which caught a lot of attention around the community. So much so that one of the players who has dealt with many injuries recently had to reply.

90’s NBA teams had just a trainer and a strength coach, they practiced more often and harder and played more back to backs. Teams now have huge medical & “performance” staffs and value rest over practice. Yet injuries and games missed are way up. Something’s not working!
Durant completely agreed with that take, sending a short but direct message to Van Gundy.
Stan spittin…

Stan spittin…
However, there was a miscommunication between the player and the coach, with the latter clarifying that he didn’t mean any offense to anybody.
No. I’m not criticizing players. I’m saying that we are getting something wrong in how we prepare and train players. We can’t do anything about injuries like yours, he fell on your leg. But all of these groin, hamstring injuries etc. shouldn’t be happening as much as they are.
KD tried to clear things up, telling Van Gundy that he agreed with his take, not the opposite way.
Stan, I agree with u lol

Stan, I agree with u lol
One fan went further and explained what ‘spitting’ meant in this context, drawing a hilarious response from the coach.

Spitting means you’re speaking facts, Stan.
Knowing KD’s history on social media and how easily he responds to people when he disagrees with them, it’s easy to say why Van Gundy said what he said. Then again, the Brooklyn Nets superstar agreed with him, and that was it.
Durant has been sidelined for a couple of weeks now after picking up a knee injury. The 2x NBA champion is trying to get ready to return to the court, but these injuries take time. Meanwhile, the Nets have lost the first three they’ve played without Durant, but they aren’t panicking over that yet.
