Kevin Durant had a crisp response to the NBA’s all-new controversial 65-game rule, giving an inkling of his stance on the whole shebang.

Taking to Twitter to reply to a fan who outlined Durant’s impressive numbers this season having just played 47 games, the veteran wrote:

“Don’t Count. Didn’t Play 65 games.”

The league’s new rule that’s rung in will need players to play at least 65 games in the season to make the All-NBA teams and stake their claim for the year-end awards. And the Phoenix Suns star wasn’t thrilled about the news.

Durant’s comments come after Draymond Green’s comments on the issue. The Golden State Warriors superstar was unabashed in his opinion, saying that “bums” would get voted into the All-NBA teams.

The ongoing season has Durant averaging 29.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.0 assists. With close to 30 points per game, the 34-year-old could be the first player in league history to average 55/40/90.

He’s had his share of injuries with his former team, the Brooklyn Nets, and even with the Suns, resulting in him suiting up for just 47 games. Per ClutchPoints, he has hit the 65-game mark thrice in the last nine seasons.

Will Kevin Durant Play Against The Los Angeles Lakers On Friday?

The NBA’s controversial rule aside, all eyes will be on the marquee Friday matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns at the Crypto.com Arena.

The contest also promises the long-awaited face-off between Kevin Durant and LeBron James. The superstars last played each other in Christmas 2018. But there is that odd chance of Durant being rested, considering he just returned from an ankle sprain he sustained earlier.

Phoenix has pretty much booked a playoff berth, and the Lakers have everything to lose in the game. Placed seventh, they will look to James to lead them to a win against a relaxed Suns unit and hope that they finish their final game against the Utah Jazz with a win to give themselves a shot of ending as the sixth seed.

Durant may play limited minutes — enough to share some time on the floor against James to give the fans their money’s worth. No promises are made here.
