The Brooklyn Nets have been absolutely rolling over the past six weeks, and they carried that momentum into Sunday’s match against the Miami Heat.
Unfortunately, the Nets couldn’t finish out at full strength after Kevin Durant left in the second half. With 17 points in 30 minutes, KD was forced to head to the locker room after Heat star Jimmy Butler landed on his leg in an awkward play.

Whether it’s a hyperextension or something more serious, we’ll have to wait and see but the Nets are going to struggle without Durant on the floor. Depending on how much time he misses (or if he misses any at all), we could see Brooklyn take some losses here over the next few games.
For now, however, the Nets’ title aspirations remain intact.
Kevin Durant’s Miraculous Season Is Putting Him In MVP Talks
While Durant was the one who nearly led to the team’s implosion over the summer, he has been nothing but business since reporting to training camp this fall. And with season averages of 30 points and 6.8 rebounds per game on 56% shooting, he has inserted himself squarely into the MVP debate.
“Brooklyn Nets are sitting at the two seed, KD’s averaging 30, 7, and 5. Not quite sure anybody expected KD to be back at an MVP level. And not because Kevin Durant doesn’t always play at an MVP level, because quite frankly, we’ve seen this for years. Especially, we’ve seen this a lot with LeBron James,” said Draymond green on KD’s MVP case. “When you’re that good, people start to not appreciate it. And so to think that KD can play again at the level to where people were appreciated enough, to even mention him in the MVP conversation, as supposed to just being like, ‘Oh, man. That’s just Kevin, and that’s what he does.'”
The Nets should give fans an update over the next few hours, and there is hope that Durant will not miss any major time. But during a time when this Nets team has never looked better, this potential Durant injury is the last thing they need.
Then again, Durant seems to have a way of bouncing back as nobody else can. He is, after all, playing the best basketball of his life coming off a torn Achilles tendon.
