Kevin Garnett’s quite the storyteller, and he shared one from the vault about his Boston Celtics teammate Paul Pierce roasted in the locker room for praising Jeremy Lin.

Lin was one of those iconic NBA players who silenced his critics and doubters with some electric basketball. He was the first American of Chinese or Taiwanese descent to play in the NBA. And Pierce was one of the players who had noticed Lin’s potential.

A clip of Garnett teasing Pierce for lavishing praise did the rounds on Twitter.

Remember when Jeremy Lin killed the league seven-eight games in a row? Paul Pierce would come in every day…’Man, you see Jeremy Lin, we all used to have a little say in the locker room…man, s*** him off’, and Pierce would go, ‘Damn, Linsanity thrash?’

But it goes without saying that Lin was an impact player who set the league on fire with his explosive play.

Garnett and the Celtics may have poked fun at Pierce for heaping praises on Lin, but the latter was the real deal, and his style of play even saw him earn some good words from the late Kobe Bryant.

Lin’s terrific game in 2012 helped the Knicks sink the Los Angeles Lakers 92-85, and Bryant called him phenomenal following his performance.

“He played extremely well. If that’s the way he’s been playing these last three, four games, he played phenomenal,” Bryant said. “We watched tape on him, came up with a strategy we thought would be effective. [But] knocking down his jump shot, penetrating and getting past our guards into the paint, [it didn’t work].”

Kevin Garnett didn’t pull his punches on the court, and in the same way, doesn’t hold back on the funny side of things either. He’s been a quality entertainer on and off the hardwood, and this story is a timely reminder that he’s not done with his intriguing stories just yet.
