Klay Thompson is widely considered one of the most beloved players in the NBA right now. Despite being a part of the much-hated super-team Golden State Warriors from 2016 to 2019, Thompson always enjoyed fan support for being a microwave shooter like we hadn’t seen before.

However, Thompson has had rough games since returning to active competition this season. In his troublesome games, the Warriors have slid down the standings amidst other injuries to Draymond Green and Steph Curry.

It seems the rocky season is getting to Klay, who was very uncharacteristically drawing a line in the sand between the fans he appreciates. There are the OG fans that were supporting the team prior to 2015, and then there are the fans that started supporting the team during their run to 5 consecutive Finals. Thompson doesn’t want those bandwagoners associated with the team.

“Man, nobody is appreciated by the fans. Fans, man. Real fans know what’s up. I’m talking about the fans prior to the championship that sat through many years of not winning. But these new fans that expect greatness and weren’t anywhere near prior, they can get away. We can forget those folks. They don’t deserve to rep the Warriors.”

Wow Klay, tell us how you really feel. Thompson is one of the more cordial players, and the air he maintains across interactions with either fans or media. But this season has been one of frustration for him, as he tried to return after 2 years of injury just to spend stretches playing without Draymond Green and Steph Curry.

The Warriors are hoping to have Curry back in time for the playoffs as they look to make a playoff run. However, Thompson will have to have some big games to make sure the Warriors stay ahead of the Dallas Mavericks and do not end up losing that 3rd seed.
