• Klay Thompson reflected on the Warriors’ second-round loss to the Lakers

• He commended Anthony Davis’ defense during the matchup

• Thompson also admitted his poor performances in the series impacted their success

The 2023 second-round matchup between the Lakers and the Warriors was one of the most entertaining ones in the postseason. The Lakers won the series 4-2, with Anthony Davis‘ defense being one of the main factors behind it.

Klay Thompson commended AD for his defense during the series while talking to Paul George.

“That Lakers series was tough. Obviously didn’t shoot the ball as well as I wanted to, shot it terribly. It’s tough when Anthony Davis is down there in the rim. That man is like an elastic, he can just affect so many shots. LeBron was still doing his thing, so I give the Lakers credit, they played very well.”

Anthony Davis had some rough offensive nights in the series against the Warriors but averaged 21.5 points, 14.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 2.2 blocks per game over the six-game series. He was a defensive juggernaut, impacting every single Warriors’ play and supercharging the Lakers into locking them down.

Klay Thompson struggled badly during the series, averaging a shockingly low 16.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game on 34.3% shooting from the field. He’ll be looking to return with a vengeance next season in pursuit of a fifth title.

Klay Thompson Says The Warriors Core Has Another Ring In Them

Klay Thompson reiterated that the Warriors are confident in their core heading into next season.

“Me, Andrew, Steph, Dray, CP, the rest of the guys, we’re hungry. We’re in the group chat right now, we’re trying to set up some minicamps before the season… Last year I had a bad taste in my mouth but now, I’m hungrier than ever. I want to get back to the mountaintop. Four is cool but why not get as many as you can get? At least attempt, so I can walk away from this game and say that I gave it everything that I had.”

The Warriors will be among the favorites in the West next season. There are legitimate question marks around Chris Paul’s fit on the roster, but it could also make them a more innovative offensive team. The Warriors’ second unit struggled mightily all of last season and CP3 can be a fantastic floor general for the young players in Golden State.

Stephen Curry averaged 29.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game last season and has shown no signs of slowing down. Health is a genuine concern, but Curry can cook with the best of them even now. Hopefully, the team keeps the good things about what made them dominant intact while adding exciting new elements for success.
