Kyrie Irving’s season may be on the precipice of ending after falling to yet another loss with the Dallas Mavericks, making it 1-7 in their last 8 games.

There is a lot wrong in Dallas and Irving will get to decide to either leave the team or re-sign with them in the summer. That’s not the only decision Irving will be making, as he has hinted he will be finalizing his next sneaker deal over the offseason.

“I’ll set my plans once I sign with a potential shoe brand. That’s usually how it goes in my scheduling from June to August — usually planning an Asia trip or China trip specifically. Once I sign with a shoe brand, I’ll start wrapping around in kind of this international world tour to introduce myself as a new brand signee or signature athlete.”

Kyrie was dropped by Nike after an anti-Semitic controversy forced the brand to cut ties with Irving. Even though Kyrie is still playing in his Nike shoes with the logos covered up, many sneakerheads and fans will be patiently waiting to hear where Irving is going next.

Chinese sneaker brand Li-Ning has been rumored after Kyrie said he needed to go to China to finalize the deal.

Kyrie Irving Entering A Summer Of Decisions

The summer of 2023 is going to have massive implications for the future of Kyrie Irving. The decision to take his drawing power as an athlete to a sneaker brand is not an easy one, but Irving will probably make the best decision that he can, given his options.

Re-signing with the Mavericks is going to be an interesting decision. While no other team is going to be offering Irving as much money, their current competitive outlook is very bleak. If Irving wants to add championships in the future, he may want to look elsewhere. If he wants to secure his financial future, a long-term contract with the Mavs and the hope that they can re-tool around him and Luka Doncic may be the best way forward.
