Big man Anthony Davis is one of the best superstars in the game when he’s healthy, and there’s no question that he’s a dominant two-way player, who can change an outcome of a game based on his play on both ends of the floor.
Despite his talent, there are some people that have speculated that Anthony Davis might be traded by the Los Angeles Lakers this summer. Recently, NBA analyst Colin Cowherd outright stated that Davis will end up getting traded.
Good to see AD’s trade value rise. Gonna need that when they move him in the off season. #Dontfallforitagain

Even though he has issues with being injury-prone, it is hard to see the Los Angeles Lakers move Anthony Davis, unless they are able to get a star-level player in return. However, stranger things have happened in the NBA, so it can’t definitively be ruled out.
Anthony Davis has played like an MVP-caliber superstar in LeBron James’ absence, and the team will need him to continue to dominate if they are to get to the playoffs. This season, Anthony Davis has put up 26.5 PPG, 12.5 RPG, and 2.1 BPG for the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Lakers Could Move Anthony Davis In A Sign-And-Trade For Kyrie Irving
Though the Los Angeles Lakers are likely not shopping Anthony Davis, there may be some deals that they would be willing to take. Previously, it was reported that the Lakers could end up moving Davis to the Mavericks in a Kyrie Irving sign-and-trade.
“LeBron James is sending a message to one Anthony Davis,” said Chris Broussard. “AD is young, 29 years old. AD this summer is something that’s going to be interesting. Dallas’ objective this summer is Kyrie for AD sign-and-trade. If AD doesn’t ball in these last 23 games, the Lakers might look at something like that.”
There is no doubt that adding Kyrie Irving would be good for the Los Angeles Lakers offensively, but it is hard to see the point guard being able to replace Anthony Davis’ impact on the defensive end. The Lakers also have a solid point guard in D’Angelo Russell, who they reportedly have “long-term plans” for.
Even though Kyrie Irving is a good player, trading Anthony Davis to acquire him would be a mistake. He does not contribute on the defensive end, while Anthony Davis is a legitimate two-way player that can anchor a championship-level defense. Hopefully, we see Anthony Davis remain a Laker, and if he continues to play well, perhaps these rumors will be gone for good.
