LeBron James has lashed out on social media against people who have been criticizing Bronny James’ athletic development over the years. Even though Bronny hasn’t grown to 6’9″ like LeBron, the Lakers star isn’t happy with people who criticize Bronny’s athletic ability.

“Exactly!!! He’s definitely just as if not right there at his age. The casuals just like to argue about sh*t  they literally don’t know about.”

Bronny is definitely still a very athletic player, he’s just not as big as LeBron. By virtue of being smaller, the hops that Bronny has while attacking the rim look impressive due to the airtime he’s capable of getting. He isn’t a freak of nature like LeBron or some other high school prospects, but he definitely has above-average athleticism for a point guard.

Bronny won’t be playing along the forward line but will control the game with the ball in his hand. Being around the same height as Kyrie Irving but having the ability to attack the rim at will is the sign of an athletic player, so LeBron is right to question the people who question Bronny’s athletic ability.

Bronny James Eyeing A Return To The Court This Season

The summer of 2023 had to have been one of the toughest that the James family have faced together in years. Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest while training with the USC Tigers in July and had to be rushed to the hospital. After recovering for a few days and undergoing surgery, Bronny will be looking to return to the court and play his freshman season. LeBron himself gave a detailed health update on Bronny during media day.

“Bronny is doing extremely well. He has begun his rehab process to get back on the floor this season with USC. He had successful surgery and he’s up and up. It’s definitely a whirlwind of emotions for our family this summer but the best thing we have is each other. And we stuck behind each other and gave Bronny strength throughout the whole process. We are happy to see where he is today and look forward to seeing what his future still has in store for him.”

The Tigers have a relatable mentor for Bronny in the locker room, as Vince Iwuchuku went through similar struggles last season but recovered in time to play at the tail end of the NCAA season.

Will LeBron James And Bronny Share An NBA Court Together?

With LeBron James entering his 21st season in the NBA, there aren’t many more years he can keep playing. Bronny was expected to declare for the Draft at the end of this season so he and LeBron can become the first father-son duo to share an NBA floor together. Though James wanted it to be with both on the same team, he admitted that he wouldn’t mind playing against Bronny either.

James has a $51.4 million player option on his contract, meaning he could be a free agent either this season or the next. If Bronny declares for the 2024 NBA Draft regardless of how much he plays this season, we can expect James to decline his option and sign with whichever team drafts Bronny.

If Bronny wants to get a full NCAA season under his belt, James could continue on with the Lakers by accepting his player option for one season. It could either be a clear farewell season or even another highly competitive season for LeBron, but it would likely indicate it being his final year, at least in LA, to make his dream of playing alongside his son come true.
