The last time the Los Angeles Lakers played the Detroit Pistons was without the services of LeBron James, but Anthony Davis led the side as they notched up a 128-121 win at home.

Now, the Lakers will more or less field a full-strength squad against the Pistons again to get a win and end their six-game road stretch 3-3 before hosting the Boston Celtics at home.

Both James and Davis sat alongside each other fielding questions after their OT loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, and the latter did have the aftereffects of his flu with the odd cough. Whether Los Angeles gives their big man a break on Sunday remains to be seen, as he’s listed day-to-day in the injury report.

The Pistons are at the bottom of the East, making the Lakers favorites to win this contest, even if they do sit Davis out. On that note, here’s a look at the injury report ahead of Sunday’s clash.

Los Angeles Lakers Injury Report Against The Detroit Pistons: LeBron James And Anthony Davis Are Probable

ESPN’s updated report puts the Lakers superstar duo as probable. LeBron James (ankle) and Anthony Davis (back) are day-to-day but will most likely take the floor, considering the Lakers would want to end their away trip with a win.

More importantly, a win would see them at 11-15 and four games away from hitting the .500 mark they’ve been meaning to hit as the trade window opens up. Coming back to the injury updates, Juan Toscano-Anderson (ankle) and Wenyen Gabriel (shoulder) are out.

On a side note, Detroit will miss Cade Cunningham (shin) and Isaiah Livers (shoulder), but as James noted, Los Angeles wouldn’t want to take it lightly. Speaking in the aftermath of the loss to the 76ers (via Spectrum SportsNet):

We understand we’ve been playing a young team in Detroit who’s capable of beating us if we don’t come and play our game. We better be ready to finish off the trip the right way, especially when we’re going back home and playing Boston, so we better have our thinking caps on and our minds and bodies ready to go.

Safe to say, the Lakers are not taking any games lightly, and that feeling of not being complacent is a good sign as they look to make a surge in the standings.
