LeBron James revealed his physical and mental condition as the Los Angeles Lakers come to the end of their grueling six-game away stretch when they take on the Detroit Pistons on Sunday.

The Lakers are currently 2-3 in their last five games. While they registered solid wins against the Milwaukee Bucks and the Washington Wizards — both largely orchestrated by Anthony Davis, they ended up losing the next three against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Toronto Raptors, and the Philadelphia 76ers in overtime.

Speaking to the reporters after the loss against Philadelphia, the 37-year-old was asked about his physical and mental condition during the challenging home stretch. According to Spectrum SportsNet:

.@AntDavis23 & @KingJames with their takeaways from tonight’s loss in Philadelphia.

This is always a tough road trip for any team. If you’re an East conference team, you go west for twelve days, and if you are a West conference team coming to the East for 12 or 11 days, whatever the case may be. We’ve lost track of what date it is and what day it is, how many days it’s been, but we know we got one more game and we want to finish off strong.

We understand we’ve been playing a young team in Detroit who’s capable of beating us if we don’t come and play our game. We better be ready to finish off the trip the right way, especially when we’re going back home and playing Boston, so we better have our thinking caps on and our minds and bodies ready to go.

James missed one game in the five road contests the Lakers played so far but was a key figure in the remaining games, notching up 20+ points in all four games.

LeBron James Shares His Takeaway After Loss To The Philadelphia 76ers

The Lakers failed to stop the Sixers in overtime and could only manage two points, even as the latter racked up 12. James ended his night with 23 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists, while Anthony Davis led the fourth-quarter comeback with 31 points and 12 boards.

That, though, wasn’t enough, and James felt the team has used up all their energy in regulation time. But he did have his plan sorted for the Sunday fixture.

It’s hard to sleep after a game anyway because your adrenaline is still running, but we came and played Laker basketball for sure. We competed, shared the ball, we defended at a high level, and they’re a very good team. We’ll leave our frustrations in the locker room, and when we leave here, we understand we’ve had a really good trip and close out the right way against Detroit on Sunday. So, looking forward to that matchup.

James is averaging 25.7 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 6.4 assists this season, and Los Angeles will need him at his best as they look to close out the road trip and the year by breaking into the Top 10. The veteran and the Lakers face the in-form Boston Celtics after they finish their away fixture against the Pistons.
