Magic Johnson was well-known for his flashy style of play, how aggressive he was and his fierce competitiveness. He became one of the greatest players of all time during the 80s, taking the NBA to new levels thanks to his rivalry with Larry Bird and the Boston Celtics.
Besides that, Magic was famous for being a fun guy and somebody who liked to party a lot. He used to host big parties in Los Angeles, earning a big reputation around the league. During his active days, Johnson used to get wild and seduce many women, sometimes even having more than he could count on one hand.
In an exclusive sneak peek of his ‘They Call Me Magic’ docuseries, the five-time NBA champion recalled his pool parties, which had an interesting rule: no wives were allowed to attend the events.
Via Yahoo Sports:
“Well you know, I was known for my parties,” the NBA legend laughs. “I had the best parties in Hollywood. Everybody wanted to come to the pool parties.”
Michael Cooper, a Lakers guard from 1978-1990, says, “It was fun, it was exciting. If you were a married guy, you’d get in trouble. If you were a single guy, you could get in trouble.”
Unlike the case with HBO’s Winning Time, Lakers Nation is really looking forward to seeing this four-part docuseries. Magic lived very intense moments during his career and we’ll get a closer look at everything he went through during those days. This is a highly anticipated show that will give us details of Magic’s life during that moment, how his HIV diagnosis changed everything for him and what happened to him after his NBA career was over.
The show was premiered on Friday and you can see it on AppleTV+.
