After years of great regular season play, the Nuggets are finally champions of the basketball world, and it took a cohesive effort from the entire team to pull it off. Even for a guy like Michael Porter Jr., who struggled to get his shot right in the postseason, he still deserves credit for helping the Nuggets reach the pinnacle of basketball success.

In a video that has since gone viral on Twitter, the Nuggets coach is seen sharing a moment with MPJ after winning the Finals. There, Malone tells Porter about his contributions to the team and promised that he’ll be there to help them win another championship in the future.

“You helped us win a championship,” Malone said. “Don’t [say] like ‘Oh, I didn’t make shots’. We won a championship and you were a huge part of that, and we’re gonna win another one.”

Man, this is awesome…

Just witnessed a very very cool moment between Michael Malone and MPJ

MPJ only shot 41% in Monday’s closeout game, but he was a steady presence for the Nuggets all season with averages of 17.4 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.

At only 24 years old, there’s still plenty of time for Porter to grow and develop his game to get even better down the road. The only question for the Nuggets is how much it will take to keep him around.

Are The Nuggets Building A Dynasty?

While winning a single championship is hardly grounds for dynasty consideration, the Nuggets look like a team poised to be in the running for the next 5+ years of the NBA. If they can win one or two more titles in the Jokic era, it may cement their place in history as one of the greatest teams in the modern-day era.

“He last step after a champion is to be a dynasty, so we are not satisfied,” said Michael Malone. “We accomplished something this franchise has never done before. We have a lot of young, talented players in that locker room. We just showed through 16 playoff wins what we’re capable of on the biggest stage of the world.”

Only time will tell us if this success continues for the Nuggets, but it’s hard to see them falling off now, given who they have locked-up.

With Jokic and Murray, Denver will compete for years to come and Michael Porter Jr. is expected to be one of the major cogs that keeps the run going.
