The brother of Nuggets star Michael Porter Jr., Coban, was apparently arrested on Sunday for his involvement in a deadly crash in south Denver.

According to The Denver Post, the 21-year-old college hooper was taken into custody on suspicion of vehicular homicide and reckless driving, but his direct involvement in the crash (which resulted in someone’s death) remains unconfirmed.

Coban Porter, the brother of Denver Nuggets star Michael Porter Jr. and a University of Denver basketball player, was arrested early Sunday in connection with a fatal crash in south Denver, according to Denver police.

Coban Porter was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide and reckless driving, police spokesman Kurt Barnes confirmed Sunday. The 21-year-old was taken into custody at the scene of a fatal two-vehicle crash at South University Boulevard and Buchtel Boulevard, Barnes said.

The crash happened at about 1:54 a.m. One driver died at the scene.

Barnes said he could not provide an arrest report or additional details on what unfolded Sunday. Barnes said he had no information to indicate that Michael Porter Jr. was involved in the crash. A Nuggets team spokesman told The Post that he was not involved in the incident.

The police will likely be investigating this crash for some time, and it remains to be seen if Coban will be proven innocent or guilty.

As for MPJ and the Nuggets, this situation has the chance to become a distraction for the team if it gets too far out of hand.

Michael Porter Jr. Still Recovering From December Robbery

Sadly, this isn’t the only crisis Michael Porter Jr. and his family have faced this season. Just last month, the young star fell victim to a robbery after several of his belongings went missing from an Indianapolis Hotel.

Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. had numerous items stolen from his hotel room in Indianapolis, according to police.

Porter wasn’t in the room when the theft occurred, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the theft, and a police report was filed. Among the items stolen were money, a gold bracelet, two Louis Vuitton bags and a bible, an Indianapolis Police spokeswoman said.

The police report was filed Tuesday, one day prior to the Nuggets’ road game against the Indianapolis Pacers on Wednesday night. The Nuggets declined to comment on the situation.

It has certainly been a rough couple of weeks for the Porter family, but hopefully, the worst of it has passed now and Coban’s name gets cleared if he had no involvement.

As for the Nuggets, they’re doing right by staying silent in all this. They are aiming for the championship and they can scarcely afford to deal with distractions right now.
