The Golden State Warriors have found their replacement for Bob Myers. The franchise has reportedly put team executive Mike Dunleavy Jr. as the new GM.

Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, “Golden State Warriors executive Mike Dunleavy Jr., has agreed to a deal to become the franchise’s new general manager. Dunleavy Jr. — who had a 15-year NBA playing career — is elevating in the front office to replace Bob Myers who stepped down after four titles.”

Dunleavy will be joining executive VP of basketball operations Kirk Lacob in larger decision-making roles for the Warriors.

Dunleavy joined the Warriors as a pro scout in 2018 after playing for more than a dozen years in the NBA. He was promoted to assistant GM in 2018 and was speculated to replace Myers soon after reports of him exiting the role did the rounds.

The former spent the first few years of his career as a player with Golden State before being traded to the Indiana Pacers in 2007. By the end of his career, he averaged 11.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game.

Mike Dunleavy Jr. Will Have His Hands Full

It won’t be an easy role for Dunleavy, as he has a tricky summer ahead of him. For starters, he will have to deal with the future of Draymond Green and Klay Thompson. Their contract extensions are up in the air, especially with luxury tax as one of the primary concerns.

Whether he will be retaining the successful Warriors core, or ring in some massive changes remains to be seen. The Warriors were once a team pegged to have the longest-standing dynasty, but with all that unfolded in the Bay since the start of the 2022-23 season, the new GM will have his hands full.
