Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless had a great on-air relationship. After all, they managed to be co-hosts of Undisputed for seven years.

But there are many reasons why Sharpe is looking forward to the next chapter in his life. For starters, his podcast ‘Club Shay Shay’ has really taken off and the 54-year-old may want to focus on it.

Additionally, Sharpe has been known to be a longtime fan and friend of LeBron James. On the other hand, Bayless is hell bent on demeaning James’ achievements, and there’s only so much a person can take.

Shannon Sharpe And Skip Bayless’ Relationship Had Become Bitter

Outside of working for seven years as co-hosts of the show, Sharpe revealed he and Skip weren’t actually close. The former NFL star even claimed that Skip had a better relationship with Stephen A. Smith due to having a similar background.

But Sharpe was still getting the job done on-air. There were two incidents that created irrepairable cracks in his relationship with Bayless.

Skip has a tendency to take shots at people and even Sharpe wasn’t safe from them. During an episode, Sharpe snapped at Bayless when the latter tried to look down on his career when calling Tom Brady the greatest NFL player of all time.

Sharpe looked visibly frustrated by Bayless’ comments and pointed out that he was not a below average player. After all, Sharpe was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011.

The second incident that arguably played a crucial role in Sharpe’s decision to leave Undisputed was when Skip Bayless made an insensitive tweet about Damar Hamlin.

It was reported that Sharpe skipped an episode due to Bayless’ controversial tweet. While the NFL legend was explaining the real reason behind his absence, Skip interrupted him.

Moments like these over the years destroyed their relationship, and now Sharpe has left the show.
