2022-23 looks set to be another disappointing season for the Portland Trail Blazers.

They are now 13th in the West with a 31-40 record after suffering six straight defeats, and Damian Lillard hinted that the season might soon be over. He admitted it is hard to put his best out there after a point and NBA fans reacted to Lillard’s statements.

“Request a trade.” said a fan who was quite blunt here. He is by no means the only one who feels that way.

“Running from the grind.” a fan mocked Lillard for running from the grind by making these comments.

“Get Lillard the help he deserves Trail Blazers.” said a fan who wants the franchise to surround Lillard with more talent.

“It’s bad because he thinks people want him to ring chase when we just want to see him on a competitive ring-challenging team.” stated a fan who just wants Lillard to be in a better situation than he is in right now.

“He actually stuck through and tried to make it work so if he requests a trade, I got no problem with it.” said a fan who made it clear he won’t blame Lillard for requesting a trade as he tried to make it work.

No one is going to blame Lillard if he requests a trade after this season. It is clear the Blazers are going absolutely nowhere, and a player of his caliber should not be in this position. He has had the best season of his career, averaging 32.2 PPG, 7.2 APG, and 4.7 RPG, but it has still not been enough to lift this team into the playoffs.

Damian Lillard Spoke On The Ring Culture In The NBA

While Lillard kind of seemed to indicate here that he might want out, his past comments make it clear that he probably won’t. He stated that the grass isn’t always greener and pointed to Russell Westbrook as an example of that. Lillard also spoke against the ring culture that exists in the NBA today.

He understands that they play to win titles but feels people need to stop acting as if nothing else matters apart from that. Lillard added that he doesn’t enjoy what the NBA is becoming and isn’t sure he will keep playing for a very long time.
