The 2023 NBA Draft started with some big controversy, as Brandon Miller ended up being the No. 2 pick from the Charlotte Hornets, with Scoot Henderson falling to No. 3 to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Fans have had mixed reactions to the pick, with many favoring Scoot over Miller with the pick. As a result, a lot of trolling has already happened.

A fan said this was the last mistake that Michael Jordan would make for the franchise.

Fans watching the lottery live in Charlotte were not pleased either, audibly booing the pick at a watch party.

With the rumors that Miller was being selected being in rumors for weeks, fans were shocked to see it actually happen and not just be a smokescreen for other teams, comparing it to trolling.

Some fans are optimistic about Miller’s potential, especially now that he’s being hated on for being the No. 2 pick.

Kevin O’Connor liked the pick a lot and explained why Miller fits better with his athletic skill set alongside LaMelo Ball instead of Scoot.

Miller is a fantastic option, but it will take some time for him to truly live up to his potential. Both players will impact their teams immediately, but Henderson’s familiarity with professional basketball after two years at the G League Ignite will help his transition.

Was This A Bad Pick?

Selecting Miller was definitely the safer option than trying to figure out a backcourt of LaMelo Ball and Scoot Henderson. Miller is a 6’9″ forward with a lot of talent that could see him become a two-way terror in years. The developmental curve is a little steeper than with Scoot, but it is a pretty strong fit on the court.

Brandon clearly built a relationship with Michael Jordan during his workouts, even openly joking about the man airballing free throws in front of him. Considering Miller has Paul George as his GOAT, he will hope to replace what PG was achieving as the primary star of the Indiana Pacers as a perennial MVP candidate.
