Going into the 2023 NBA Draft, Scoot Henderson was one of the more hyped prospects. He has an elite combo of athleticism, slashing ability, and playmaking, which has led many to believe that he can be a franchise-altering player going forward.
It was unclear where he was going ahead of the NBA draft, but it seems as though that has been decided. After the Charlotte Hornets selected Brandon Miller with the No. 2 overall pick, the Portland Trail Blazers elected to pick Scoot Henderson with the No. 3 overall pick.

There is no doubt that Scoot Henderson has the ability to become a franchise-changing player for the Trail Blazers. He and Damian Lillard have the potential to become one of the best backcourts in the league, and Henderson will give the team an element of rim pressure in the backcourt, as well as floor general ability.
This past season with the G-League Ignite, Scoot Henderson averaged 16.5 PPG, 5.3 RPG, and 6.8 APG. He was relatively inefficient for them, shooting 42.9% from the field and 27.5% from the 3PT range, and his long-range scoring is clearly an area that he’ll need to work on once he enters the league.
