  • James Harden tends to divide opinion in a way that few NBA players can
  • Fans were asked about the first thing that comes to mind when they see Harden and there was a wide range of responses
  • Some fans hailed his talent while others were quite critical

Few players in the NBA today divide opinion quite like James Harden does. On the one hand, he is viewed as an offensive juggernaut, perhaps unlike any other in the history of the NBA.

On the other, he is seen as someone who repeatedly comes up short in the big moments. So, when NBA fans were asked about the first thing that comes to mind when they see Harden, it should be of little surprise that they went to both extremes.

One sees Harden as arguably the best iso-scorer in NBA history.

One of the best iso scorers of all time if not the best

One fan rather bluntly went with Quitter.

A fan says Harden is the third-best shooting guard of all time.

Third bestshooting guard of all time. Never truly got the respect he deserved for his on court play and production. One of the 30 best basketball players that ever lived. Revolutionised and changed the game of basketball forever. pic.twitter.com/pyVLmxrNOi

A regular season beast and a postseason underperformer said one fan.

One fan thinks of Harden as a generational talent.

In a way, Harden is all of those things that the fans mentioned. He is an incredible talent, who has made 10 All-Star teams and won an MVP in 2018. Harden has also led the league in scoring thrice (2018 to 2020) and in assists twice (2017 and 2023). His career averages of 24.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game are really impressive too.

At the same time, one cannot just look past the postseason failures. The 33-year-old has had one too many stinkers and there is a noticeable dip in his play during the playoffs. Harden has also now handed in trade requests on three different teams, and you do think of that when his name pops up.

James Harden’s Latest Trade Request

The latest James Harden trade request came in June this year. He opted into his $35.6 million player option and wanted to be traded from the Philadelphia 76ers. Harden desires to go to the Los Angeles Clippers but there didn’t seem to be a whole lot of movement on that front.

It was then reported on Saturday that the 76ers had ended trade talks on Harden in a new twist, and they planned to bring him back to training camp. Seemingly in response, it came out that Harden has no plans on returning to camp and is determined to leave. He is probably going to get his wish eventually, but not before things get really messy.
