Zion Williamson was the consensus number one overall draft pick ahead of the 2019 NBA Draft. The New Orleans Pelicans had the fortune of drafting the athletic beast. But Zion’s first few years in the league were anything but good.

The reason behind it was Williamson’s constant struggles with injuries that made most doubt the chances of him reaching his full potential. He was getting called out left and right by the media and fans for his unavailability. So much so that Williamson once admitted he was in a dark place while struggling with several injuries.

But at the end of the day, Zion Williamson has made a comeback this season. Since the start of the 2022-23 NBA season, the 22-year-old has been in sensational form, and it has resulted in the New Orleans Pelicans having the best record in the Western Conference right now.

CJ McCollum Claps Back At Zion Williamson’s Haters

The New Orleans Pelicans faced off against the Phoenix Suns in back-to-back games, and the result was the same in both games. Zion led the Pelicans to two sensational victories by stuffing the box score. Seeing Williamson’s current form, fans are finally debating whether he should be in the MVP conversation this season.

Zion is definitely in great form and looks unstoppable right now. As a result, most have instantly turned into fans of the Pelicans’ superstar. But amidst that, Zion’s teammate CJ McCollum hasn’t forgiven the people who criticized Williamson when he was struggling to stay healthy.

Let the praise be as loud as the disrespect was.

McCollum simply called out the people who disrespected Zion over the last few seasons. He wants them to praise him and, in a way, apologize to Zion for disrespecting him.

If Zion Williamson can maintain his current form throughout the season, there will be a very strong case for him to win the first MVP award of his career, and what’s better than that as a reply to his haters?
