The Eastern Conference is a bit of a dumpster fire right now. The Wizards have lost 10 straight games, the Raptors have lost five straight, the Pacers are 3-7 in their last 10, and the Chicago Bulls are losers of 4 straight after tonight’s meltdown against the Timberwolves.
By the final buzzer, the Wolves had dropped 150 in what may be the worst defensive game of the season.
It’s no surprise that DeMar DeRozan admitted to feeling embarrassed by the game and the showing from his team.
“It sucks, it’s frustrating, and it should be a lesson learned on what it’s like when you let something slip and you’re not being connected and not being not understanding what needs to be done collectively,” said DeRozan. “We scored enough for us to win the game but to give up 150 points is beyond embarrassing and we gotta feel that. You gotta feel low right now, you gotta feel frustrated. you gotta feel all the ba demotions to understand why. That’s competitiveness. It’s embarrassing to give up that many points. Nothing against Minnesota but it’s not like we’re playing against the 2016 Golden State Warriors. We gotta do better, we gotta be better individually and team-wide.”

DeRozan seems pretty upset with the state of his team right now, and he should be. At one point, the Bulls were at the top of the East, now they are near the bottom as DeRozan himself gets thrown into trade rumors.
DeMar DeRozan Could Be On The Trade Block If Bulls Decide To Rebuild
With no word on when Lonzo Ball might be coming back to the court, it’s looking less and less likely that this core is going to be a successful one for the Bulls. As a team destined for the middle, at best, many fans have pushed for the team to go all-in for VIctor Wmebanyama.
Where that leaves DeRozan is anyone’s guess, but the Lakers could be a team that makes sense.
According to NBA sources, the Lakers are interested in both Vucevic and DeRozan. If L.A. is willing to give up two first-round picks (2027 and 2029) along with Russell Westbrook as a buy-out candidate, the Bulls may end up in a better lottery position to retain their pick in June. This is the draft to do it.
The future of DeMar, and the Lakers, depends on how the Bulls play over these next few weeks. If they can turn things around and show some signs of life, it could be all the front office needs to be patient and give this core some more time.
But as many fans are pointing out, what’s best for the Bulls and their title odds going forward may be trading away everyone and starting from scratch.
