Former Boston Celtics forward Evan Turner responded to the backlash he garnered after he trolled LeBron James.

Turner took to Twitter to slam the Los Angeles Lakers star calling him out for the championship the team won in 2020. This comes on the back of the NBA’s announcement that significant awards would be changed in honor of the legends who played the sport.

His tweet sparked intense criticism, and Turner took to Twitter again to respond to all the comments he received:

I’ve been getting harassed nonstop since I tweeted about the bron bron trophy..it’s only fitting that I respond with this:

“At the end of the day, all the people who want to see me fail, they gotta wake up tomorrow and have the same life they had when they woke up today.”

That, though, didn’t necessarily stem the flak as the damage had already been done.

The NBA Announces Six New Names And Trophies

Earlier this month, the league announced that the individual accomplishments would be rewarded with trophies named after some of the greatest players.

While Bill Russell already had his name etched as the Finals MVP, the new list boasts some decorated players. Shams Charania of The Athletic revealed more details about the move.

New names and trophies for NBA’s major individual awards:

MVP: The Michael Jordan Trophy

ROY: Wilt Chamberlain Trophy

DPOY: Hakeem Olajuwon Trophy

Sixth Man of Year: John Havlicek Trophy

Most Improved: George Mikan Trophy

New Clutch Player of the Year: Jerry West Trophy

There’s no doubt that the league has put much thought behind the names, and in a way, it’s the ultimate tribute to these stars.

Given James’ achievements in the 20 years he’s played in the league, it shouldn’t come as a surprise if there is a trophy named after him at some point. He is also expected to surpass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the highest scorer in the NBA before the end of this season.

Maybe, there might be a trophy named after him once he calls time on his decorated career.
