Kevin Durant, much like many other NBA players, is a big fan of hip hop. Durant has been spotted in the past hanging out with many famous rappers and has even been name-dropped in songs by the likes of Drake, among many others. But Durant thinks one legend of the game is not shown as much respect as he deserves.

Recently, there has been a lot of chatter about which hip-hop artist could go hit-for-hit with legendary rapper Jay-Z. This trend has come about thanks to ‘Verzuz’, a popular webcast in which rappers go head-to-head from some of the best songs from their catalog.

Jay-Z himself recently addressed this discussion, standing his ground, and saying that no one would be able to go against his catalog. He said that no one could stand a chance against him, especially given his catalog of music he has never performed live.

One person who agrees with him is Kevin Durant. Durant took to Twitter recently to suggest that this chatter about certain artists like Lil Wayne and Kanye West being able to match Jay-Z is because younger fans don’t show Hov the respect that he should command.

Gen Z got Jay-Z f*cked up

Durant clearly has a lot of respect for Jay-Z. Not only is Jay-Z an icon in hip-hop, but he is also a big reason why KD is in Brooklyn right now. Jay-Z was once a part-owner of the New Jersey Nets and was part of the team that brought the Nets from New Jersey to Brooklyn, where KD is currently the star player.

Durant’s hip-hop fandom has been well-chronicled in the past. He was one of the first people who got to listen to Kanye West’s latest album ‘DONDA’, as he was invited to the private event, where he was spotted dancing along. On top of that, he even named Drake’s ‘Crew Love’ as the song that best describes his game. There is no shortage of respect from Durant when it comes to hip-hop as a genre.
