Lou Williams was all praise for Anthony Edwards following the young star’s inspired performance against the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 4. While reviewing the game on “Run It Back”, Williams hailed Edwards as the face of the NBA.
“Top 3, you can put him [Edwards] wherever. But if he doesn’t want to be the face of the league, he’s doing an awful job,” said Williams, referring to the guard’s statement about being viewed as the same.
“He’s running around in the playoffs collecting Infinity Stones,” Williams continued. “Last year, he went head-to-head with KD. He wanted that series, right? And now you’re seeing how he’s going about it with LeBron.”
“He wants this series. He wants to be the guy to knock off all our household names, all of our legends, all of our icons. And he wants to be recognized as the next up. He’s taking these matchups personally.”
Williams concluded by saying, “If he doesn’t want to be the face of the league, you’re going about it the wrong way if you don’t want this job. Because this is the best route to being considered the face of the league, and being one of the top 3 players in the league.”
As Williams said, Edwards certainly announced his arrival in this series against the Los Angeles Lakers. The young Minnesota Timberwolves star answered the call and has looked like the best player in the series thus far.

Having made a dramatic rise in the last few years. The talented 23-year-old guard finally looks like he’s ready to be one of the torchbearers for the next generation of NBA players.
Coming off a tremendous 43-point performance in Game 4 of the playoffs, Edwards has garnered a lot of attention for his aggressive and competitive mindset. When paired with his ever-improving leadership qualities, the Wolves guard has developed into the franchise player he was destined to be.
However, it isn’t only Edwards’ scoring prowess that has been impressive this series. The young star has been vital in facilitating Minnesota’s offense as well.
His ability to handle the ball and create off the dribble has created several opportunities for the Wolves to exploit matchups. A prime example of this has been drawing Luka Doncic out to the perimeter on switches with Edwards controlling the flow of play from out on an island.
Now, sitting on the verge of closing out the series against the Lakers, Edwards is presented with the opportunity to defeat the third-seeded Lakers. Having established himself against the likes of LeBron James in this series, the guard has explored every avenue to get an advantage over the Lakers’ star.
Heading into Game 5 with a 3-1 lead, Edwards and the Timberwolves will attempt to secure the series win and move on to the next round on Wednesday at 10:00 pm ET.
