Giannis Antetokounmpo has been one of the best players in the NBA for a while now, becoming one of the most dominant stars of his era, bullying rivals on his way to the basket, showing an aggressiveness that you hardly ever see in the league nowadays.
He’s trying to lead his Milwaukee Bucks to the 2022 NBA championship after winning the crown last season, but the job will be harder for Giannis this year. The Bucks face the Chicago Bulls in the first round of the postseason, and now are heading back to Chicago with a 1-1 tie.
The Bulls will try to make things hard for the Greek Freak, and Patrick Williams is all about that. He’s embracing the challenge of going against Giannis and isn’t backing down against the 2x NBA MVP. Talking about the responsibility of guarding the power forward, Williams made it clear that Giannis is good, but he isn’t scared of the 2021 Finals MVP.
Via NBC Sports:
“It’s the same as you get ready for anybody else,” Williams said after the Bulls’ morning shootaround ahead of Game 2 of its first-round series with the Bucks. “First of all, don’t be scared. I feel like a lot of people in this league are scared or nervous to guard guys like that (Antetokounmpo). Obviously he’s good, he’s a two-time MVP. But he puts his pants on the same way I do. Just knowing he is good, but he’s not God.”
Williams isn’t afraid of facing Giannis, and that’s something the Bulls need to beat the Bucks in the first round of the playoffs. This series has given us interesting moments already and we can’t wait to see what’s next now that United Center will host the next two matches. Giannis will try to get back at the Bulls, but Williams will be ready to stop the MVP finalist.
