Stephen Curry and Luka Doncic have plenty of things in common. Not only can they destroy rivals any given night, but they are also pretty funny people with humble personalities.
Contrary to many NBA players, they don’t act like divas, and their own teammates can confirm that. On a recent edition of JJ Redick’s “The Old Man and the Three” podcast, the host and his guest, Andre Iguodala, named Curry and Doncic as the only players who don’t ask for special treatments.
Iggy revealed some players’ habits before games, stating that Curry doesn’t ask for anything ever, which is rare for a superstar like him (23:43).
Andre Iguodala: “Every superstar has some quirks, like ‘I need 6 red Skittles in my locker before every game,’ or ‘I need 4 pairs of shoes.’ Steph is like, ‘I’m one of the guys, I don’t need special treatment.'”
JJ Redick: “The only guy I played with that doesn’t ask for special treatment is Luka.”
Knowing how cool these guys are, it’s hard to be surprised by these comments. Steph has shown how down-to-earth he is since entering the league. As for Luka, these remarks are far from Brian Windhorst’s claims of him being a difficult person.
The Slovenian point guard has some things to improve, yes, but that doesn’t mean he’s as complicated as some want to make him look.
It’s easy to imagine that other players have this mindset, including Nikola Jokic or Giannis Antetokounmpo. However, the only certainty now is that Steph and Luka don’t pay much attention to getting that special treatment, although some people might be shocked by that.
