Stephon Marbury continues to attack LeBron James and his legacy as one of the all-time great players. In a recent interview with Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson, Marbury claimed that LeBron James must surpass Kobe Bryant‘s legacy before he can be compared to Michael Jordan, thinking that Kobe is still better than LeBron overall.

“LeBron’s a great player. Don’t get me wrong. A great, great player. Unbelievable. Amazing. But better than Michael Jordan? – it’s not even the same. It’s just different. In fact, it needs no explanation or explaining because we can’t talk about Jordan’s game. It’s like we need to talk about what people are not.”

“People wanna rank Jordan? Jordan shouldn’t even be ranked. It should be Kobe, then LeBron and then you can pick guys after that. There’s just no comparison man. It’s not the same. It’s just different worlds. Different mentalities. I don’t know why Jordan’s name is mentioned in the same conversation sometimes. I’ll clear that up real quick…there’s really no need to talk about that.”

Marbury has been very critical of LeBron James in the last few days. Yesterday, he shared a Fadeaway World graphic of Michael Jordan’s performances and claimed that LeBron James shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same breath as him.

On top of that, he stayed adamant that Stephen Curry should have been named the Olympics MVP over James. In fact, he even claimed that LeBron James didn’t earn the MVP trophy, feeling that Curry was overlooked when it came to the accolade.

LeBron James Is An All-Time Great

Marbury’s comments have been quite harsh on LeBron James, and seem to come from out of nowhere. To suggest James didn’t earn his MVP trophy at the Olympics is absurd, considering he was Team USA’s best statistical performer and their most consistent star at the tournament.

Despite being 39 years old, James averaged 14.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, 8.5 assists, 0.3 blocks, and 1.3 steals in six games. He was crucial to Team USA’s success at the Olympics and played some incredible basketball as Team USA secured the gold medal for the fifth consecutive time.

James has long been considered one of the greatest players of all time, with many believing he is in the same conversation as Michael Jordan to be the greatest ever. James entered the league at 18, with many touting him as the heir apparent to MJ’s throne. The fact that James was able to find success in the league with such immense pressure on him speaks to the quality player James has always been.

LeBron’s longevity is another factor in why he is considered one of the all-time greats. Despite nearing 40 years of age, James is still one of the best players in the NBA, with many expecting him to break Vince Carter’s record for most seasons played in NBA history.

Now entering his 22nd season, James is playing at the highest level and elevates any team that he is on, and will continue to do so for the remainder of his career.
