Steve Kerr has already made his pitch for Kevin Durant to join Team USA in two years, as they will defend the gold medal they just earned last season in Tokyo. That team redeemed USA Basketball after a terrible performance in the 2019 FIBA World Cup.

Led by players like Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard and Draymond Green, that team put American basketball back at the top, winning a gold medal against the team that beat them in the first game of the tournament.

KD was really great that tournament and new head coach Steve Kerr hopes to see him donning the USA jersey in Paris in two years. Durant and Kerr clashed on Wednesday night, as the Brooklyn Nets demolished the Golden State Warriors, worsening their crisis.

Kevin Durant Could Be On The 2024 US Olympic Team

Meanwhile, Kerr is already recruiting his former player, as KD will be crucial for this team’s aspirations in France. Following the match, the 8-time NBA champion made his intentions clear of having Durant on the team in two years.

Via USA Today:

Kerr hopes to have Durant on his side again on the 2024 U.S. Olympic team. Durant is the leading scorer in U.S. men’s history and Kerr said USA Basketball leadership hopes he will play in Paris, where he could become the first man to win four basketball gold medals.

“That would be nice,” said Kerr, who joked he would “most likely pull him aside tonight” to make a recruiting pitch. “I mean, he’s been so dominant with Team USA and like I said, he’s a guy who just, he loves to play. So we’re hoping he decides to keep going.”

Durant said it was too early to make his decision.

It would be cool to see if KD once again leads this team in the most difficult basketball tournament in the world. With all the young talent in the NBA right now, they won’t miss good players to go to France. They want to keep their dominance on the international stage, but it’s still unclear if Durant will be part of that squad.
