Darren Collison is an NBA point guard that is well-known as a veteran presence. He can do a little bit of everything on the offensive side of the ball: shooting, ballhandling, and finishing at the rim.

While Collison is a free agent currently, it seems as though there is a chance that he will be back in the league. Brad Turner of The LA Times has recently revealed that the Los Angeles Lakers worked out Darren Collison recently. Darren Collison notably played for the Lakers last season.

Sources: The Lakers had free agent point guard Darren Collision in for a workout Wednesday. Collision, 34, played in 3 games with the Lakers last season and has interest in playing in NBA this season.

The Los Angeles Lakers have replaced a majority of their roster to build a better team around LeBron James and Anthony Davis. They signed younger athletic players such as Troy Brown Jr. and Lonnie Walker, and it’s clear that they’re going with a defensive-minded approach. However, a veteran ballhandler like Darren Collison will likely always be useful, which is presumably why the Los Angeles Lakers are being linked with Darren Collison currently. If they sign Darren Collison, they will get a solid backup point guard who is also capable of spacing the floor.

Hopefully, we see the Los Angeles Lakers make it back to the playoffs. They have a championship-caliber duo in LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and perhaps they can bring the Los Angeles Lakers to the promised land once again next season. The key for the team will definitely be staying healthy, and LeBron James and Anthony Davis both notably missed time last season. Perhaps we’ll see a better year from the team next season, and there is no doubt that the franchise will be looking at every possible way for them to get better.
