The Atlanta Hawks have a very slim chance of competing for a title this season after falling down 3-1 in the first round against the Boston Celtics.

Their one win in this series and progress since Quin Snyder was hired shows the Hawks may be on the right path for the future. Trae Young is allegedly a massive fan of Snyder, as revealed by his father on Twitter.

Young has developed a reputation for not getting along with coaches after both Lloyd Pierce and Nate McMillan ended up being pushed out of the franchise. Snyder is a more respected coach than the other two and has shown some positive results already. Whether he can be the one to rein in Young and have him buy into the team’s agenda is something we can only see over the offseason.

Is Trae Young Fighting For His Spot In Atlanta?

It’s weird to say that the franchise cornerstone is playing to ensure he is still valuable to the team, but this is what’s happening in Atlanta. Rumors of Young being on the trade market have been circulating, so he will have to keep performing on the court to prove he is indelible to Atlanta.

Ray Young tweeting this endorsement of the coach in the name of his son shows that Trae is going to buy into the plan that the franchise under Snyder lay out. The coach reportedly has powers when it comes to the roster on the squad, so convincing Snyder that he is their franchise star has to be a priority for Young as well. His 35 points and 15 assists in the Hawks Game 4 loss definitely helped in showing the world he’s still one of the best guards in the league.

Young may have a larger load to carry if Dejounte Murray faces consequences for an altercation with a referee after Game 4.
