Austin Reaves was one of the few positives to come out of that disastrous 2021-22 season for the Los Angeles Lakers. After going undrafted in 2021, Reaves was signed on a two-way deal by the Lakers, and not too long after that, the team signed him up on a standard NBA contract.

He proved to be a solid role player and to his credit, has improved in his sophomore season. Entering their game against the Denver Nuggets, Reaves was averaging 10.6 PPG on 51.1% shooting but he eclipsed his scoring average in the first half itself by scoring 11 points! With the Nuggets threatening to pull away as they led 57-48, Reaves scored the next 10 points for the Lakers to pull them within four and when he went to the line for his 10th straight point, the fans started an MVP chant for him.

That was a fun moment right there and there is no doubt that Reaves has established himself as a fan favorite. The effort he puts in on a nightly basis on the court is greatly appreciated by the fans and performances like these just make things even better.

Austin Reaves Defended LeBron James

This isn’t the first time by any means that Reaves has gotten it going on the offensive end. He has had multiple 20-point games this season and LeBron James was especially hyped after his 22-point outing against the Blazers earlier this season.

He also hit a huge shot in the clutch against the Pistons recently after LeBron passed him the ball. After that game, Reaves defended James’ decision to pass, as he said LeBron always makes the right basketball play. It is crazy how James gets criticized for this when, as Reaves says, he is just making the right play as per the situation. James and Reaves need to step it further though, as the Lakers are currently down to the Nuggets in the third quarter and they are without Anthony Davis who has had to exit the game.
