As the best team in basketball by a mile, the Boston Celtics have set some pretty high standards this season.
With a 22-7 record, and some of the best scoring the NBA has ever seen, the Celtics have emerged as the early-season favorite to win the title this season. But after going 4-2 on their most recent 6-game road trip this month, one NBA veteran dared to call Boston’s recent stretch ‘terrible.’
Speaking on NBA Today, Richard Jefferson somehow came to the conclusion that Boston’s 4-2 West coast tour was a disaster.
“So when I look at the Boston Celtics… yes, the Boston Celtics are a great team, they are good, but if you’re going to have the highest of standards, this was a terrible road trip for them. 4-2 could be a bad road trip for a great team.”
RJ is a 17-year veteran and NBA champion, so he knows more than most how to identify a “bad” road trip. To his credit, the Celtics‘ two losses came against two potential Finals matchups in the Warriors and Clippers.
Still, it’s wild to think that going 4-2 could ever be considered bad, and ESPN analyst Zach Lowe made sure to let RJ know just had much he disagrees.
“It’s not every day that you get to make television history and Richard Jefferson made television history today for being the first person ever to declare a 4-2 road trip over 6 games as a terrible disaster. Let’s review: At Brooklyn, here come the Nets the chemistry is good everybody’s back, double-digit win. At Toronto, what a tough place to play, win. At Phoenix, ohh Finals preview on national tv, they win by a million. At Golden State, you might have heard they won the championship last year and are 12-2 at home you lose, big whoop. You get spanked at the Clippers, that’s fine. And then you beat the Lakers on the road with LeBron James and Anthony Davis playing 1,000 minutes like it’s Game 7 of the Finals.”

Boston Celtics Are The Best Team In The NBA
For the Celtics, it’s not just about Tatum and Brown. While those two are quickly proving to be the best duo in the league, it’s the supporting cast around those guys that has really made all the difference this season.
