It’s an exciting summer for the Ball family that has given us two top-three picks in the NBA Draft over the last seven years. LiAngelo Ball hasn’t made it to the NBA just yet but is going to be the second brother to become a father.
LiAngelo’s wife Nikki Mudarris revealed on Instagram that their son will be named LaVelo Ball, keeping the family naming custom of the child’s initials being LV. The name also seems to be a fusion of LiAngelo’s younger brother LaMelo and his father LaVar.
“LaVelo, we can’t wait to meet you. You’re so loved.”
LiAngelo has gotten a few cracks at G League teams and even played preseason and summer league for the Charlotte Hornets last season. He hasn’t been able to make the cut and complete LaVar Ball’s dream of all three of his children playing in the NBA. He is still just 24 years old, so the dream is still not dead yet.
The NBA Dream Looking Shaky For The Ball Family
All credit where credit is due in terms of LaVar Ball being able to raise three sons that are top-tier hoopers, with LaMelo and Lonzo playing at the caliber of NBA stars. LaMelo has already been named an All-Star but his future in the league has severe doubts due to his troubling injuries.
Lonzo’s career might be over after he missed the entirety of this season and has been ruled out of next season due to a variety of knee injuries that make people wonder if he can ever play again. That’s a shame because in the 35 games he did play in the 2021-22 season, Ball looked like one of the best defensive guards in the league and was shooting at a 42.3% clip from three on 7.4 attempts per game.
Hopefully, we see LaMelo start enjoying better health next season after missing most of this year due to ankle injuries. Similarly, everyone wants to see Lonzo back on the court after it finally looked like he was becoming the star point guard people always thought he could be.
