Draymond Green and Domantas Sabonis headlined Game 2 of the playoff action between the Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings.

The Warriors took to Instagram to defend his action of stomping Sabonis in the chest, saying, “Nothing wrong here. Solid basketball play!!!”

It all happened when Sabonis hit the floor at the Golden 1 Center when he wrestled for a loose rebound. His arms tangled up with Green’s right leg, and the latter stomped his right leg on the Kings center’s chest, resulting in a Flagrant 2 foul. Green was ejected from the game, but he’s not reportedly done defending his play.

Following his ejection, the forward walked off to raucous boos from Kings fans, and not the one to let it slide, he took on fans as well.

Later on, he had his reason for his action. “My leg got grabbed. Second time in two nights,” Green said.

“Referees just watch it. I gotta land my foot somewhere and I am not the most flexible person, so I can’t stretch it that far… I can only step so far with him pulling my leg away, it is what it is. The explanation was that I stomped too hard… I wasn’t surprised that he stayed down.”

Amid all the furor, the Warriors went down 0-2 against the Kings. With five games left in the series, the defending champions, already staring at the bottom of the barrel, will have some work to do.

Portland Trail Blazers Damian Lillard Defends Draymond Green

Draymond Green garnered immense flak on social media, but he found some support coming in from Portland Trail Blazers star, Damian Lillard.

“Take foul on Sabonis…” Damian Lillard wrote. “I didn’t think Dray tried to step down… That’s just how his balance ended up,” the guard tweeted.

This was pretty much seconded by most fans, who believed that Green was trying to regain his footing after he was grabbed by Sabonis. However, the varied angles tell a different story.

It remains to be seen if the league will take more stern action against the veteran, and if that would be the case, then the chances are that Green would face a suspension. The Warriors will need their best defensive presence in a must-win Game 3 to keep their series hopes alive.
