The Los Angeles Lakers have gotten their playoff push after the All-Star break off to a wonderful start with a dominant win over the Golden State Warriors. The final score was 111-124 in favor of the Lakers who were playing at home.

Despite an injury to D’Angelo Russell and a below-average game from LeBron James, the Lakers defended really well to restrict the success the Warriors could have without Stephen Curry on the floor. Their fast-break offense has become more deadly now that they have reliable shooters spacing the floor, giving them easy opportunities at the rim or off kick-outs to players like Malik Beasley and Austin Reaves.

Malik Beasley led the Lakers in scoring with 25 points while Austin Reaves provided 17 points without missing a shot to make up for LeBron scoring just 13 points on 25% efficiency and Anthony Davis scoring 12 points on just 5 attempted shots.

Fans were extremely happy to see their team dominate the reigning champions to get one win closer to their goal of being in the playoffs.

The lineup versatility that the Lakers gained from trading Russell Westbrook away is quite incredible, as the Lakers can run a number of different combinations that remain effective even when personnel is switched around. This performance proves that the roster is going to be a hard out for any team that matches up against them.

Is There Enough Time In The Season For The Lakers?

The Lakers are 28-32 after 60 games this season and need to go on a substantial win streak to bring their name into the thick of the Western Conference playoff race. They’re fighting with their back against the wall and even Darvin Ham knows they can’t afford to lose any game from now until the end of the season.

The Lakers can’t afford to have anything less than 44 wins, which means they need to win 16 out of their last 20 games. Their dreams to be a sixth seed may not be realistic but if the franchise can enter the 7-8 play-in game, everyone should consider it a win. Winning that game and then making the playoffs as a 7th seed might be their best course of action, as this roster is definitely going to be a nightmare to face for any of the top seeds in the West.
