The Golden State Warriors got demolished in their previous game against the Milwaukee Bucks, giving up 128 points and losing by 17. The team fell back to a 14-14 record, and alarm bells are going on for many within the fanbase. While the Warriors are the reigning champions, it seems they have lost a bit of the mojo they had last year.

The Warriors have Klay Thompson back now, and while he’s enjoyed the odd good performance here and there, he’s still not what he used to be. Stephen Curry has carried the team quite a bit, but even he can’t be perfect every night. It really looks like the role players they lost haven’t quite been replaced, and Golden State‘s record away from their home arena is pretty bad. But some analysts aren’t worried about it.

Shaquille O’Neal Doesn’t Think The Warriors’ Middling Start Means Much

The Golden State Warriors have proven over the years that counting them out is always a bad idea. The team has fought adversity and injury issues and overcome them to win the championship for the 4th time in 8 seasons last year. And that means they’ve earned a bit of faith from those that analyze the game. Shaquille O’Neal explained that it’s just a question of the team switching on and competing for wins.

“They haven’t flipped that switch yet. Deep down they know, we don’t need home-court advantage. We still got the switch. Klay’s [Thompson] been up and down.

“Once they get to 10, 15 games when they hit the switch, in their mind, they are saying, ‘We are the champs, we don’t need home court advantage, we know we are not playing well. Once we flip that switch and start playing well, we’ll be okay.’”

Shaquille O’Neal is right in a way, it would only take a small moment to galvanize the Warriors and get them performing at a very high level. Stephen Curry is a leader by example, and when he puts his foot down, the Warriors will likely get back to being quite good.

The team has gone 3-5 in their last 8 games, and the Warriors find themselves struggling to win consistently. Klay Thompson returning to form would be a huge boost for them. Few will be writing the Warriors off at any point before the postseason comes around April of next year, although some fans are beginning to question everything
