Jalen Brunson has been a solid player for the New York Knicks this season, and there is no doubt that he’s made an impact on the team. They are currently the 5th seed in the Eastern Conference, and they look poised to make the playoffs this year under Brunson’s leadership.
Recently, Charles Barkley has claimed that Jalen Brunson is “one of the best” free agent signings in NBA history, claiming that what the point guard has been doing this year is “historical.”
Charles Barkley:
"Jalen Brunson is probably one of the best free agent pickups in NBA history… What he's done this year is historical.”

Though the New York Knicks are not viewed as contenders right now, it is clear that Jalen Brunson has made them into a solid playoff team. They need to keep building on this year going forward, and perhaps they will become a contender at some point in the future.
Currently, Jalen Brunson is averaging 23.8 PPG, 3.6 RPG, and 6.2 APG for the New York Knicks, and it is clear that he has been having an All-Star caliber season. Hopefully, he continues to play at a high level going into the playoffs, and we’ll see how the Knicks end up doing in the postseason.
Stephen A. Smith Thinks Damian Lillard Would Join Knicks If He Leaves Trail Blazers
One way the New York Knicks could become an elite team is if they acquire another All-Star level player. Recently, Stephen A. Smith suggested that Damian Lillard would be willing to join the New York Knicks if he left the Portland Trail Blazers.
“Damian Lillard is one of the greatest guards to have ever played in NBA history… I have a long and lengthy relationship with Dame, I got a lot of love for him. I practically begged this man to be in New York City for the New York Knicks. I’d have given anything for him to end in… The New York market, in a New York Knicks uniform… If he were to depart from Portland, the one place he would have wanted to be was (as) a New York Knick,” Smith said on Monday’s edition of First Take.
There is no doubt that Damian Lillard would be a difference-maker for the New York Knicks, and adding another offensive powerhouse would be great for them. However, he has remained committed to the Portland Trail Blazers, so this seems like an unlikely scenario.
With that being said, it is possible that a star-level player will decide to join the New York Knicks in the future. They are building a good culture there, and perhaps that’ll happen sooner rather than later.
