Damian Lillard is a living example of loyalty in the modern NBA. Lillard has been sticking with the Portland Trail Blazers for the last 11 years despite being one of the best guards in the NBA whose team is never of the caliber to secure a championship.

Lillard has been grilled over wanting to leave the Blazers for years now, and he has consistently said he wants to win in Portland, signing contract extensions whenever possible. It seems he isn’t happy with people constantly asking him to leave the franchise, making that clear on Twitter.

A fan shared their thoughts on Lillard and Bradley Beal not winning more in their careers due to their loyalty to their franchises, to which Lillard responded by letting the fan know he has won plenty.

The only thing Lillard hasn’t won is a championship. He’s been All-NBA, he’s been an All-Star, recently won the 3-point contest, won Rookie of the Year over Anthony Davis in 2013, and many other accomplishments. A title would be the gem in his crown, but Lillard’s career in Portland hasn’t been the waste many fans try to paint it as.

Damian Lillard Pushing Forward Despite The Doubts

Nobody picked the Blazers to be in the championship picture this season. The team is currently in the battle to secure a playoff spot at the bottom of the Conference, trading places with the Oklahoma City Thunder and being wary of a possibly resurgent Lakers trying to take their spot.

Lillard has led the Blazers to the Conference Finals before in his career, which is a round that even superstars in the league have struggled to reach, like Joel Embiid. Even if his championship aspirations aren’t rewarded in Portland, the same fans that attack the likes of LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, and Kevin Durant for switching teams to win titles will mock Lillard for ring-hunting if he ever leaves for a contender.

It’s a tough situation, but Lillard sticking with the team that drafted him is something that should be appreciated.
