The NBA has gone through some major changes over the last few decades. One of which is increasing its popularity to an unimaginable level across the globe.

As a result, modern-day NBA players make much more money than the previous generations. Keeping that in mind, it’s not a surprise that NBA legend and current TNT analyst Charles Barkley recently expressed his hate for modern-day NBA players making a huge sum of money.

“I don’t want to offend anybody, but we’re paying janitors, we’re paying plumbers, we’re paying bums today,” said Barkley. “We’re just giving $200-300 million out like candy. I’m not bad, you get whatever they pay you. I just hope you appreciate that you the luckiest dude in the world who was born at the right time. But it has nothing to do with the money anymore.”

Charles Barkley believes that many players are incredibly lucky to be born in this era. According to him, these players certainly do not have the talent to go hand in hand with their huge contracts.

Charles Barkley Continues To Call Out Modern-Day NBA Players

This isn’t the first time that Chuck has expressed his disappointment with current NBA players getting massive contracts. On that note, Barkley also recently called out the load management culture in the NBA.

He believes it is not fair for players to make millions of dollars a year just by sitting out games.

“I don’t think fans get mad if you’re making $30, $40, $50 million and play basketball every night. But you can’t make $30, $40, $50 million, and then sit out games. I think it’s disrespectful to the game, I think it’s disrespectful to the fans.”

Barkley flat-out called this practice disrespectful to the game of basketball and its fans around the globe.

While Barkley is correct in his own way, modern-day NBA players cannot be banned for getting huge contracts. After all, they are just born in the perfect era to make money in the NBA.
