Missing the playoffs last season did not sit well with LeBron James, and he was determined to make it this time.

He called the 23 games left after the All-Star break the most important of his career, so to then suffer what seems to be a serious injury would be a big blow to him, as evidenced by a picture he shared on Instagram.

LeBron James

He has already been ruled out for their game against the Memphis Grizzlies, and no timetable has been put out just yet on when he could be back. This just seems to be a cursed season for the Los Angeles Lakers, as something or the other just always seems to go wrong.

They had Anthony Davis suffer a foot injury when he was playing at an MVP level, and now when they have put together a great supporting cast around their stars, the other one gets injured. The hope would be that his retooled roster has what it takes to weather the storm and keep the team in contention for a spot in the playoffs when LeBron returns.

The Lakers’ Hopes Of Getting A Top 6 Seed Might Be Dashed

A sports injury analyst revealed that LeBron might potentially be out for close to a month if he suffered a midfoot injury but added that if it is a Plantar fascia tear, then he could be able to play through it. The Lakers will be praying that it’s the latter and that he can return to the court fairly soon.

When the Lakers were rolling after the trade deadline, Stephen A. Smith stated that they will finish in the top 6 in the Western Conference, provided they stayed healthy. Well, any talk regarding a top 6 finish can now be put to the side after this injury, and a spot in the play-in would be the best they can hope for. They are only 2.5 games behind the 6th seed, but it is going to be incredibly tough to make up that ground without LeBron, especially when you consider the number of teams who are fighting for that spot.
