Devin Booker Thinks The Phoenix Suns Are Not A Superteam: “We Only Had One All-Star, That’s KD.”
Over the last few seasons, the Phoenix Suns have established themselves as one of the best teams in the NBA. The 2022-23 NBA season has been a bit shaky for the Suns due to injury troubles.
But after making a blockbuster trade for Kevin Durant around the NBA trade deadline, the Suns have once again become one of the top contenders to win the 2023 NBA Championship. On paper, the Suns undoubtedly have a superteam. However, as per Devin Booker, that's not the case.
"Well, we only had one All-Star this year. That's KD... I don't do titles and stuff, that's for you guys and everybody else. I know we have really talented people but I think we have to finish what we're trying to do. That's my main focus."
Kevin Durant is currently 34 years old, and he is still one of the best players in the league. By getting traded to the Suns, Durant has undoubtedly formed a superteam with Chris Paul, Devin Booker, and Deandre Ayton.
But since Booker didn't acknowledge this reality, he was berated by NBA fans for his comments about the Suns not being a superteam in the league.
Can Kevin Durant And Phoenix Suns Win The 2023 NBA Championship?
The ultimate goal for the Phoenix Suns this season is to win the NBA Championship. They have given up a lot of assets in order to acquire Kevin Durant from the Brooklyn Nets.
Speaking of Durant, he believes the Suns have all the crucial pieces to win the NBA title this season.
We’ve got all the pieces to be successful. I appreciate your warm welcome, but we’ve got work to do,” Durant said. "I feel like I’ve still got to prove myself. I want to put good stuff on film every day. That’s the only thing I’m concerned with at this point in my life, is putting good stuff on film every night. I’m looking forward to doing that for Suns fans and hopefully they accept me after that.
Durant will hands down be the best player on the Suns' roster for the remainder of the season. Once he builds good chemistry with the rest of the team, it will make the opposing team's life super hard.
But that's what fans thought when Durant was part of the Nets. The experiment failed. So now it's up to Durant to prove his doubters wrong and lead the Suns to an NBA Championship this season.
