Draymond Green was brutally honest when he shared his take on Nikola Jokic’s leadership on the floor and how it’s made the Denver Nuggets the formidable unit they are.

The Golden State Warriors veteran forward used an instance of the game to describe Jokic’s leadership on his podcast.

“He (Jamal Murray) had a chance to tie it up and send it to overtime,” Green said. “But he step back, shot the ball, and missed. And what you will see in most situations like that, with a lot of guys is they drop their head, they slump their shoulders. Joker (Nikola Jokic) clapped his hands. But it was a clap like ‘Ah he barely missed’… wasn’t like, ‘I should’ve gotten the ball.’

“Shoulders did not drop a centimeter,” Green added. “Body language did not change, and that’s why they’re in the NBA Finals.”

Green paints a pretty accurate picture of what Jokic does on the floor, and how his actions suggest that he leads from the front. It’s not just his performances that do the job, but how he takes his team forward with the smaller things.

Despite Jokic’s 41-point masterclass, the Nuggets went down in Game 2 against the Heat, but the series is far from done, and should Jokic continue his stellar production and admirable leadership, the Heat will have a fight on their hands.

Mike Malone Calls Nikola Jokic’s Approach To Basketball “Business-Like”

Nikola Jokic has had his most dominant postseason thus far, and much of it stems from the change in mentality from past years. According to Nuggets head coach Mike Malone, Jokic now has a “business-like approach to basketball.”

“I think as the years have gone on he’s definitely matured…” Malone said. “Not that he was immature, I’m not saying that he was just goofin’ off all the time, but he has a great personality. He doesn’t take himself too seriously, and when you walk through a locker room and all the guys are hanging out and talking to each other and having a good time.”

“I think that speaks to how together and connected that group is. But Nikola has matured, he hasn’t changed who he is at his core, but he definitely, during this time of the season, has very much a business-like approach to basketball.”

This postseason, Jokic has averaged some solid numbers, dishing out 29.8 PPG, 13.1 RPG, and 10.5 APG. Denver will surely need him to keep up this level of production to win the Finals.
