The Golden State Warriors were struck by thunder when the OKC Thunder came to the Chase Center and walked out with a 128-109 win. The Warriors, without Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, needed Klay Thompson to step up, which he couldn’t with an abysmal five-point outing that left fans furious.

Some fans were genuinely upset at watching Klay Thompson’s downfall from one of the best shooters in the NBA to what he’s doing this season.

Fans called Klay Thompson washed.

Fans think Klay’s time is up with the Warriors.

Warriors fans are still praying that Klay can put his season together after this slow start.

The lack of quality in Warriors basketball for the last two seasons and has also upset fans.

Andrew Wiggins wasn’t spared fan hate either after his poor start to the season and this performance.

The only silver lining for Warriors fans was the performance from Jonathan Kuminga, with many claiming he should take Wiggins’ spot in the starting five when Draymond returns.

Klay Thompson scored just five points on 1-10 shooting in his worst shooting performance of an already bad season. Jonathan Kuminga shined after starting over the suspended Draymond Green and had 21 points. Chris Paul had a decent night with 15 points and eight rebounds, but the team was missing defense in Green’s absence.

The Thunder were led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who had a terrible shooting night after a hot start to the game, notching 24 points on 28.6% efficiency. Josh Giddey had a great night with 19 points and six rebounds, while Jalen Williams added 16 points alongside Chet Holmgren’s 13 points and 10 rebounds. Isaiah Jone shone, coming off the bench and dropping 23 points in a solid win for the Thunder.

The Warriors Are In Trouble

This was probably the most uninspiring way to respond to a four-game losing streak and missing your two best players. Outside of Kuminga, most of the Warriors looked flat and on low-energy. Wiggins received a lot of hate, but he was crucial in helping the Warriors claw back from an early 20-point deficit to make the game a single-digit affair at halftime.

Klay Thompson looked as bad as he has ever looked tonight. We’ve seen bad shooting nights from Klay before, but it seemed like his presence on the court was harmful at almost all times. He is averaging 13.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists this season, not living up to the max contract he is on right now, and wants an extension for in the offseason. He cannot be their second option while playing like this.

It may be time to admit that Stephen Curry doesn’t have enough help around him. Even though they won the title in 2022, the aging team is seeing the production of its players slowly decline. Outside of Curry, and with no Jordan Poole, it looks like offensive creation has disappeared, even with Chris Paul.

The lack of scoring can’t be addressed without a move, which could involve blowing up the Warriors’ core. This is primarily aimed towards Klay, who is at risk of leaving in the summer if he isn’t given a big contract extension. The team needs to look at transitioning out of their championship dynasty era, as the players are simply not that elite anymore.
