The Los Angeles Lakers have had a topsy-turvy year so far. Despite showing a lot of promise over November and early December, the Lakers have fallen to some incredibly ugly losses that have been headlined by their role players actively hurting the team while on the court.
Patrick Beverley in particular has been pretty awful. His season average of 4.6 points on 30.3% efficiency has no positive impact on the Lakers. His play against the Boston Celtics in the Lakers’ loss was also not impressive, leading to the team dangling him in trades.
After it was revealed that Beverley would like to return to the Minnesota Timberwolves after being traded, former Suns player Eddie Johnson mocked Beverley on Twitter for his shooting struggles this season.

Beverley has not been good offensively by any stretch of the imagination. However, his skill set never relied on that side of the game. His defensive impact has been minimal as well, ensuring that the Lakers move off him before he makes the team worse in the interim.
Are The Lakers Making Trades Going To Change Their Season?
The Lakers fanbase has been clamoring for trades since the last trade deadline, as the franchise has severely dropped the ball in building its roster. Trading a young asset in Talen Horton-Tucker for Beverley has not worked out and the team is, somehow, in a worse position.
If they can get a high-impact rotational player like Bojan Bogdanovic or Kyle Kuzma, the team’s ceiling and the floor are elevated slightly. Those additions won’t make them title contenders but would solidify a play-in spot, something the team is struggling to get as is.
