Ja Morant’s Dad Says There Haven’t Been Any Changes In Ja’s Inner Circle

Ja Morant’s return to the court has led to his father Tee Morant doing a media tour of his own to talk about his son. He recently appeared on SiriusXM’s NBA Radio and told Justin Termine that the family hasn’t made any adjustments to the inner circle of advisors and friends Ja has, despite rumors about them being bad influences.

“We got the same circle. We got the same circle… It’s always funny that people want you to change your circle even if, like, he don’t have no killers around him. He’s got educated people around him. But everyone else thinks, ‘Okay, this person is this, this person is that.’ No! Everybody knows their task. It was a bad decision. But it wasn’t a crime.”

Justin: Did he make any changes in regards to the people in his inner circle?

Tee: We got the same circle

Even if the people around Ja are well-educated and not ‘killers’, that doesn’t make them good company. Even after everything that happened, we know that Ja is feeding a lot of mouths. A son would do anything for his father, so we’re not talking about Tee itself, but Morant has had an entourage with him for the last few years that might be staying unchanged.

Morant’s close childhood friend Davonte Pack seems to still be in the mix, despite being the guy who went live on Instagram when Morant was flashing a gun. He didn’t have the best influences around him and that will continue as he looks to rehabilitate his image.

Ja Morant Focusing On The Court

Regardless of who’s in his circle, if Ja is motivated to succeed on the court, he will overcome any distractions. A lot of people have been critical of not just the friends Ja has around him but even his family.

Fans who watch Grizzlies games have seen Tee Morant enjoy his pseudo-celebrity status as lot, with people thinking that Tee is trying to live vicariously through his son. The fight with Shannon Sharpe on the Lakers court was probably what solidified it for everyone, with his current media tour also making it seem like he likes to get the spotlight on himself. There’s no question that he’s a great father for raising Morant to become an NBA superstar, but his affinity for the spotlight cannot be ignored.

Morant shares a wonderful relationship with his mother. One of the first things he did on his rookie contract was buy her a house, a moving gesture. However, his mother has been one of the reasons his name was dragged through the mud last year, as she was intimidating mall employees by naming her son. Reports even suggest that Ja carries guns because of his mother.

Family is the ultimate inner circle for almost anything, so everyone around Ja needs to look at their behavior themselves. Everyone wants to see Ja succeed on the court, something that will happen after the distractions in his life are gone.
